Catalina Island Excursión

 

One of the most booked dive and snorkeling excursión is Catalina Island. This is the ideal family excursion for divers and non divers. After the pick up from the hotel around 7 am, we will drive to La Romana on the Caribbean side of the island, we will pass the endless sugarcane fields, and the famous Basilica church in Higuey.

 

 

 

That church was build when the pope came to vist the island.

 

In La Romana we step on the boat for a 20 minute ride to the north side of Catalina where we make the first dive on the wall.

 

It is a nice wall to go deep, max 30 meters or for less experienced divers 12 to 18 meters 40 to 60 feet.

 

On that first side the snorkeling is also perfect because of the shallow top of the wall, where you will find hundreds of coral and fish species.

 

After our 50 to 60 minute dive the snorkelers will be taken to the island where some more snorkeling is possible from the beach, the divers will go to the shallow aquarium dive site.

There we make another dive on a flat 12 to 14 meter reef , famous for his variety on sea life like sea horses and other rare species.

 

There you can really see you are diving in a protected natural park.

After the second dive a buffet lunch on the beach all together and a extra 1,5 hours to explore the island or just enjoy the crystal clear waters.

 

Around 3.15 pm back to La Romana and Bavaro, where we will arrive around 6pm.

 

Our excursion days are Tuesday and Saturday but other days are possible on request.

 

The cost of the trip is 99 usd for non divers and 199 usd for the divers.
